“A mum knows everything about her children. She knows about dentist appointments, best friends, favourite foods, secret fears, and hopes and dreams.
A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.”
Okay, so this is obviously a joke… but, to paraphrase Shakespeare, “many a true word is spoken in jest.”
A dad might not know his child’s birth weight, the date his daughter lost her first tooth, or his son’s favourite cereal, even though said son eats the same cereal every day for breakfast, lunch, and after school snack, and has done so for 4 years.Where mums play a more active role in a child’s life, carrying out the day to day practicalities, providing emotional support, and imparting advice and wisdom, a dad’s role is more unassuming.

Dads are the machines that spin in the background, they go about their daily grind, going to work, paying taxes, attending little league games, and acting as a human ATM. They keep the wheels of the family spinning smoothly with very little demand or expectation of gratitude.
But should the wheel stop turning, should the machine grind to a halt, the family will be jolted out of their equilibrium, and realise the importance of Dad.
Don’t wait until the cogs stop spinning, or for the machine to pack up in a cloud of steam. Instead, on father’s day, show your “unassuming” Dad how important he is to the family… how important he is to you.
Show him that he is one of the lads with a cheery bottle of Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie. The vivid blue colouring is only the start of the adventure followed by a brilliant bouquet of wild flowers and caramelised fruits on the nose. The sweet oak, barely, and ripe green fruit on the palate make for a sweet and lively finish.
Give him a break from the rat race with Shetland Reel Gin, where the flavours of juniper, coriander seeds, citrus peel, and apple mint are infused with the freshness of the Shetland coastline allowing him a mini vacation from the comfort of his favourite armchair.
Finish his day with a rich, fruity, and spicy Dalmore 18 year old. Let the warmth of the whisky do the talking as he feels the glow of appreciation, pride, and understanding.
Don’t take your Dad for granted.
Instead, grant him the perfect Father’s Day.
